The Summit is a very special Nepali style hotel with western comfort. It was founded some 25 years ago by a group of Dutchmen who had - and still have - a great affinity for the country, its mountains, people, history and culture. Terraces set in spacious flower gardens give views north across the Kathmandu valley to the Shivapuri ridgeline and the snow clad Himalayan range beyond. Open balconies with local hand made tile floors and carved wooden pillars connect to the rooms. A wide range of accommodation is offered from the self contained apartments in Summit Tower to the air conditioned Himalaya View Wing Rooms, the original Garden Wing Rooms, to the good value budget accommodation available in Holland House. The Summit Hotel, placed equidistant between the great Durbar Squares of Kathmandu and Lalitpur, is the ideal place for those spending time in and around the Kathmandu valley. the best woodwork and handicraft shops are located near this hotel.
